I am very fortunate. I live in a house near the sea, with a wonderful wife and two fantastic kids. I can see, hear, walk, and use my hands. I work and have enough money. [Ok, more money is always nice, but so long as you can pay the bills, eat and have something left over, everything else is a bonus].

My Nikon Family: F2AS, F801s, D70, D700

A new addition to my Nikon family

Last Saturday (23 June 2012) my Nikon Family gained a new member, a nice shiny new D700! A what a beast it is too, haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do, mainly because the manual it was sent with is in French. It is unbelievably fast - it almost takes a photo BEFORE I press the button. Just need to attach a worthy lens to it, but that will have to wait until another day!   My family are already running away when they see it in my hand... could be time to head for the hills :)

Bricks in the wall

All in all it was just a brick in the wall....

Just a few weeks before Kai was born, I was 'advised' that it would be a good time to start the conversion of the back garden from the split level affair to a nice flat area for our children to play on. For the last three years, I been digging in the garden. Not all the time, but somewhere between 200 and 300 hours. I think I have moved about 50 to 60 tonnes of soil and rock with a bucket, spade and wheelbarrow... Based on the average weight of each bucket, how many buckets to a barrow load and how many trips I made.

Nikon f2 AS Photomic

In the early 1990s I took photos with a range of Nikon cameras - FM2, 801s and an F2 AS Photomic. I loved using the 801s as it had auto focus and worked as it should. That is until I dropped it crossing the road and broke the top plastic. The F2 AS Photomic has no such fragility and it was used quite a bit. It was taped up to hide that it was a Nikon and to keep the corners from getting scuffed. Because of it's solid build, I took it to India in 1997 and after that I don't think it was used much again...

Well, after nearly 10 years waiting and several years of delay, Diablo 3 finally arrived yesterday. Our postman was not our normal one and I saw him walk right past our house delivering nothing. There was quite a bit of disappointment with the lack of delivery, but hey, what could be done. I went a did something else knowing that it would arrive tomorrow. But then my youngest son arrived with a package! Turned out the postman had missed the parcel in his bag and had come back to deliver it!   Installation took a while but looked good. And then I was off.
